The 2017 USTA Georgia Adult 40 & Over League Tennis State Championship will take place June 2nd through June 5th in Athens, GA and Columbus, GA.  The schedule was published under the "Schedule" tab on this page around noon on Thursday, May 25th.

With this tournament being held in two locations (3.0 & 4.0 in Athens and 3.5 and 4.5+ in Columbus), we are going to hold two separate captain's conference calls. The 3.0 and 4.0 levels, which will be playing in Athens will be Wednesday, May 31st beginning at 7 pm.  The 3.5 and 4.5+ levels, which will be playing in Columbus, will be Wednesday, May 31st beginning at 8 pm.  The call will last 30-45 minutes, depending on the number of questions.  During the call, please make sure you MUTE your phone so that everyone is not hearing your background noise.  This was the one issue we had during our calls for the Adult 18 & Over State Championships.

The captain's registration is still Thursday night from 7:30 - 8:00 pm at the Athens Tennis Center for the levels in Athens and the Cooper Creek Tennis Center for the levels in Columbus.

We have also published some "Reminders from the Referee" that should answer some of your rules questions.  There have been lots of questions regarding the use of smart watches, fitbits, etc. Here is the rule from the 2017 Friend At Court (can be found on the captain's corner or general info tabs):

    USTA Comment 30.1, page 16:

A player may bring to court written notes that were prepared before the start of match and may read these notes during the match.  While on court or during a match, a player may not receive Information via electronic devices capable of receiving communications such as cell phones or smart watches.

A player may play on two (2) Adult 40 & Over teams, but they must be at different levels, so please make sure your team is aware of this regulation. Players who participate on two teams will not be accommodated in scheduling of the event.   The directions page shows which facilities we will be using and all levels in Athens will be playing on hard courts and all levels in Columbus will be playing on clay courts, barring any weather problems.  Penn has graciously donated all of the balls for the event, which will be handed out prior to each match.

On the upper right side of this page there is a screenshot of our USTA Georgia League State Championship APP! Please download this and turn on your push notifications, so they can receive alerts throughout the tournament.

Good luck to your team, and the USTA Georgia staff looks forward to seeing you at the Adult 40 & Over State Championship!
